Nebraska's spending on roadways is 20th highest

Adequate and safe transportation infrastructure is vital to Nebraska's business community. Among the 50 states, Nebraska is ranked as having the 20th highest expenditures per capita for its roadways, according to a recent U.S. Census Bureau comparison. Nebraska spent about $868 per person on roadways, less than any neighboring state except Missouri -- which spent roughly $600 per capita. Nebraska spends the 14th highest amount in maintenance expenditures per capita. You will find these statistics and many more in the Nebraska Chamber's 2017 Competitiveness Redbook, which will soon be distributed to Chamber members. The Redbook examines more than 50 indicators that provide a snapshot of Nebraska's economic climate and competitiveness.
