The Chamber

The Butler County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors represent a cross-section of our community. They work hard to ensure long-term sustainability of the organization and the future of our county. Board members serve three-year terms and new members are elected each fall at the quarterly membership luncheon to replace outgoing board members. Candidates are nominated by Chamber member businesses and must receive majority vote of the membership to be elected to the board.

  • Karla was born and raised in rural Brainard. She is a 2003 graduate of East Butler High school. After attending high school, she went on to obtain a Bachelor's Degree at Wayne State College. Karla and her husband, Nathan returned back to Butler County in 2014. Nathan is a teacher at Bellwood Elementary School and the High School Girls Basketball coach at David City Public Schools. Together, they reside in David City with their 2 children. Paxton, 5 and Laney 2.

  • Erin Hotovy was born and raised in David City and graduated from Aquinas Catholic. In October 2014 he moved home to open David City Ace Hardware. Prior to, Hotovy lived in Lincoln, working for Walgreens in Corporate Purchasing and Store Management. Hotovy’s wife, Melissa, is an activities aide at David Place. They have two daughters: Ainsley (13) and Addison (2). Hotovy also serves on the Butler County Crime Stoppers Board of Directors, is on the Thorpe Opera House Board of Directors and is a volunteer for the Nebraska Democratic Party.

  • Kirsten Husmann is a native of Wood River, Nebraska. After receiving her bachelor of science degree from Bellevue University in Healthcare Administration, she began her career at Union Bank & Trust in April of 2012. In 2010, she moved to David City and currently serves as Branch Manager/Ag Loan Officer for Union Bank & Trust. Kirsten also serves as the Financial Secretary for Redeemer Lutheran Church in David City. Her husband, Eric, owns his own business, H2 Equipment and together they have three sons: Bentley (6), Jase (3), and Levi (1).

  • Kory Kuhlman is a Financial Adivisor for Edward Jones in David City. He has his wife Kasey live on an acreage northwest of David City where they raise their three kids: Addison (9), Chase (7), and Will (2). Kuhlman and Kasey are both natives of the area. He is a graduate of David City High School and went on to get Bachelors degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Kuhlman began is career in finance with Ameritrade in Omaha before moving back to the area. He has worked as a Financial Advisor for Edward Jones for the past ten years.

  • Todd De Wispelare

    Todd was born and raised near Octavia and graduated from Aquinas in 2001.
    He graduated from UNL in 2006 with a degree in Ag Business and Ag Economics with a minor in Agronomy.
    He started at First National Bank of Omaha in September of 2006 and just passed his 11th year as an Ag/Commercial Lender and Insurance agent.
    He's driven the Ambulance on transports for the Butler County Health Care Center since November of 2015 - Present.
    He married Kandi and has 2 children. Camden is 7 and Kollyns is 2.
    He is a board member of the UNL Butler County Extension, a member of the David City Planning Commission and Secretary/Treasurer of the David City Volunteer Fire Department.
    He is also a member of Marietta Presentation Catholic Church.

  • Mark Kirby

    Mark has been lifelong resident of Butler County. He graduated from David City Aquinas in 1987. He has worked for Butler Public Power District since 1991 and became General Manager in March of 2016. Served on the David City, City Council from 1998-2006. Member of the Breakers Basketball Board from 2003-2010 and was a School Board member from 2013-2016.
